Why do you not operate 24/7?
Many taxi services have attempted 24/7 or daytime service in Laramie over the last 15 years or so, but have been unable to maintain enough business for it to work for very long. As for ourselves, we maintained 24/7 service for several years, longer than any other company....often incurring heavy losses during the daytime and early week shifts. Those losses were normally covered by ample business the rest of the week and at night. However, with lower demand and more competition than ever before in an already weak market, this is no longer the case. We had to make the difficult decision years ago to cut our service hours in order to remain in business and continue serving the community of Laramie.
The demand for daytime transit service in particular in Laramie has never been as high as many people believe. We have tried many times to reinstate full-time service, at the request of other local businesses, but that traffic has simply never materialized. We do continue to revisit the issue periodically, however.

Why don't you run meters?
As with many rural cab companies, rideshare services, and newer, modern cab companies.....we operate differently than traditional, metro cab companies. In larger cities, prices are often controlled by the local government, and many taxi companies also have more complex rates. There are also often additional taxes/tariffs and fees that all go into a slightly more complex, realtime, running calculation of a fare, which requires a meter for accuracy. Lastly, most drivers in larger cities/companies are completely independent drivers who are simply renting out the cab for a gate fee, but need to be bound to the same pricing and laws as the company's other contractors.
None of this applies to us. We have a simple, straightforward flat rate system, no government interference or controls, no taxes (we pay sales taxes out of our own pockets for you), and no idle/running time charges (unless we actually have to wait for a customer on location for longer than 5 minutes, at which point we simply charge a flat rate in 5 minute blocks). We also rarely employ anyone outside of our household anymore, as we are a small, family business. Things are much simpler and more straightforward for us; the logistic and financial challenges of running meter systems is unnecessary.

What kind of licensing do you carry?/What licensing is required to operate a taxi company?
All traditional taxi companies doing any for-profit business in Laramie MUST have a number of licenses/documentation. In addition to establishing Articles of Organization with the Wyoming Secretary of State and filing Annual Reports, we must also possess (and carry with us at all times) a valid Sales/Use Tax License from the Wyoming Department of Revenue, a valid Contract Motor Carrier Authority from the Wyoming Department of Transportation, and a Vehicle for Hire License from the City of Laramie. We must also maintain certain amounts and types of commercial motor carrier liability insurance on all vehicles and drivers, and we must remain in good standing regarding Albany County property taxes.
Do your drivers undergo background checks?
Now that we've downsized to being a purely family/household business with no plans to expand, it's theoretically unnecessary. However, we are still bound by our commercial insurance carrier's criteria and requirements, and we do have to submit to yearly background checks by the Laramie Police Department as a current requirement of our city license (one of many licenses we must carry).
Do your cabs undergo any kind of inspections?
While we don't go through any kind of official, vetted inspection process (few procedures or standards even exist in Wyoming), our co-owner and in-house mechanic has established himself as the leading taxi/shuttle mechanic and vehicle detailer in southeast Wyoming, and has set incredibly high standards that other cab companies consistently fall short of. We let our reputation and our customers' opinions of our vehicles speak for themselves.
However, for larger projects or more complex repair work that cannot be completed in-house, or for anything outside of his expertise, we continually defer to two local shops with stellar reputations: TJ Auto Repair and GEM Auto Repair. Both of these shops are intimately familiar with our demands, needs, concerns, and most importantly, our desire and reputation for safety and reliability....and can testify to that.

Do you make deals with local businesses and organizations?
We do have some deals in place with some local establishments, and consistently offer them to many businesses. Current deals are listed on our "Rates" page on both this site and within our mobile app.
